Not BPA free! Hate to burst everyone's bubble, but...
I just called Nesco to see if the 5 qt. model was also BPA free, and the customer service woman told me that neither one is! She said no matter what you are reading on Amazon, it is not correct. The bowl that accompanies it is , but the outside is not. Now I have to keep searching....
BPA Free but Steams Slowly
This steamer was the ONLY BPA Free steamer I could find for my family. I found that it is very small, even with both tiers and takes a long time to steam the vegetables when compared to the other steamer we had (which did contain BPA). So I guess that is the trade off but I'm going to continue to look for a better, faster model.
perfect for the single male
I selected this product over the others because I wanted something simple, easy to clean, not too big for the kitchen counter, and inexpensive. This product fits the bill for all of these.
Simple - there is not much to a steamer as it just boils water and this product has one dial. There is nothing fancy to it. Also it is safe because if you are out of water it turns itself off and not even my coffee maker does that. It is very easy to use, but it doesn't think for itself and so you are required a little intelligence in being able to know when your food is cooked properly as I have a tendency to just turn it on and check on it later.
easy to clean - this steamer is very easy to clean. The plastic is very thin and flexible which surprised me when I first got it, but when you think about it a steamer doesn't really need to be built like a juicer since the steaming process is not as demanding.
