Surprised with the high performance!
I bought the Aroma Induction Cooktop at Costco for $49.99. Up close it looks stylish and feels well built (I don't trust photos). I have a natural gas R366 Wolf at home and this amazing little cooktop will get a pot of water boiling faster.
And I was impressed even more with the ease of clean up. Since the glass doesn't get scorching hot like conventional radiant heat cooktops spilled food will wipe off easily. A big plus.
Another interesting feature...when you turn off the power the cooking stops immediately just like gas.
I'm sold, my next full sized cooktop will be induction.
Very fast cooking
We bought this from Costco.
Initially I was not so sure, but now I totally love it.
It is an extremely fast and a very cool product. We have to use iron & steel vessels, so it can become a very healthy way of cooking ( no more non-stick).
It has different heat settings as well as timer, eg, I boil water, add pasta or rice or egg, put it in the lowest possible heat setting, put the timer on and forget about it :-) It will beep when its ready.
Making Indian tea is the fastest in induction cooker.
We can also take it outside next to a plug point, for cooking outside (camping or parties)
Things I cook in induction cooker:
Rice
Pasta
Tea
eggs
Boiling water for anything
Coffee
Seasoning
Fish Fry
Any curries or sauces, that need to simmer/boil for some time.

Gas to induction convert
Coming from a "foodie" and "chef" home background, I have been predisposed to gas cooking. My Wolf range has seen no spill-overs. I LOVE cooking with gas. As I enter the retirement stage of my life most of living options seem to be electric. I have read a bit about induction cooking and with the help of Costco's affordable Aroma Gourmet Induction Cooktop I am converted.
It heats up super quickly, responds instantaniously to heat changes just as gas does. I have always used cast iron and am super pleased that pieces handed down from my mom and my mother-in-law adapt VERY well to this new way of cooking. I can't believe how quickly the pans heat up. I use the magnet test and am surprised that some of the expensive (wedding gift) stainless cookware will not work, but I have enough that will that I am super, super pleased with this manner of cooking.
I would love to retire to a live-aboard boat and can see that with one induction burner and an oven of some...
