GE GFC520T 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Waste Disposer with 2,600 RPM Speed, 2 Leve...

Poor design
Purchased GE disposer because it was on sale - HUGE mistake. I have installed three disposals in rental properties before and this took twice as long to install and does not come with electrical cord which is plain stupid not to include. The parts connecting it to the sink are cheap plastic and these connections have to be constantly retightened to prevent it from leaking. The heavy vibration from the unit loosens the connection and because they are made of plastic you cannot really tighten tightly without fear of breaking it. Save yourself the grief, time, and money of buying this shoddy product.

Nightmare installation!
I just got done spending four hours trying to attach the unit to the drain. I am not a novice. For some reason the tolerances were off on this unit and I could NOT get it to the point where you are to simply turn and lock it in. Off the drain sleeve, the rubber gasket and locking unit fit fine but when the rubber gasket was on the drain... no way. The tines on the disposal simply would not reach up high/deep enough into the locking mechanism so one could turn it and attach it. Again, I can do about anything but this thing beat me. I am taking it back to Menards and challenge anyone for a hundred bucks to do it. Maybe it is only this particular unit, no one else seems to have had any problem here. I am staying away from GE disposals for sure....

Jams
Hi All,
This model GE jammed. Using the largest pliers and a big broom handle,
you just cannot unjam this unit. It does not come with anything like a tool
for unjamming, nor does it come with a plug. This is the type of unit you might buy at a big box
store. Really, a bad selection. Unit needs replacement now.
